MAIDSTONE, Richard (d.1442), of Isleworth, Mdx.

Family and Education
m. (1) by Mar. 1431, Joan (d.1439), wid. of John Durant and Geoffrey Jolynton, CP40/683, rot. 463. 1da.; (2) Joan Dauntsey. The Commons 1386-1421, iii. 666 inverts the order of Maidstone’s marriages. Joan is not referred to as ‘Dauntsay’ until after Maidstone’s death, and it is possible that rather than being a Dauntsey by birth she had in fact by that time married a member of the family, perhaps even John Dauntsey* of Trowbridge, whose wife of this name has not otherwise been identified.
