EDWARD, Thomas
Jurat, Sandwich Dec. 1391–2.
There is no evidence to identify him with another namesake who served on a number of commissions of sewers in and near Romney Marsh between 1370 and 1390. That John Edward was evidently an official on the estates of the abp. of Canterbury, for in 1381-2 he shared with others a grant of the temporalities of the see vacated by Abp. Sudbury’s murder during the Peasants’ Revolt, and was appointed to various royal commissions for the restoration of order on the archiepiscopal manors.
