Lord William Russell was returned unopposed for Surrey, where his family had an estate at Streatham. He attached himself immediately to Opposition, and on 27 Jan. 1789 intervened in debate to deny Sir Joseph Mawbey’s contention that the majority of Surrey freeholders favoured the ministry.1Debrett, xxv. 310.
He was murdered by his valet, 6 May 1840.
