biography text

A little more may be added to the earlier biography.2 The Commons 1386-1421, iv. 483-5.

It is not known what prompted Stonor to seek the royal pardon he received just months after coming of age and receiving formal livery of his inheritance.3 Dated 11 Oct. 1415: C67/37, m. 28.

In 1424 or earlier, Stonor clashed with ‘Cassy’ in an obscure legal dispute, perhaps relating to a benefice in the diocese of Worcester. His opponent is unidentified: given the dating, it is unlikely that he was John Cassy*.4 Kingsford’s Stonor Letters and Pprs. ed. Carpenter, 122-4.
