Bristow succeeded his father both at Winchelsea and at the Board of Green Cloth, but was turned out of both by Walpole for allowing himself to be carried by Bubb Dodington into voting against the Administration.1Sir Dudley Ryder’s diary, 9 Aug. 1740, Harrowby mss. In 1747 he was brought in for Shoreham by his father-in-law, John Phillipson, as a government supporter. He died 9 Dec. 1776.
