WALLER, Edmund, jun. (?1725-88), of Beaconsfield, Bucks.

In January 1747 Waller was appointed to the lucrative life sinecure of St. Katherine’s Hospital, apparently in compensation for his father’s surrender of office. Yet when he and his father were returned for the family borough of Chipping Wycombe at the general election a few months later, they were classed as Opposition. Having taken to the bottle, he was replaced in 1754 by his elder brother John, on whose death he was again returned, sitting until the next general election when his younger brother, Robert, replaced him. His father left the bulk of his estate to him, but so tied it up in the hands of trustees as to make it impossible for him to squander it.1L. J. Ashford, High Wycombe, 183.

He died 8 Aug. 1788.
