Dundas was elected for Malton in 1807 on the interest of his uncle Earl Fitzwilliam, surviving a contest provoked by the revolt of Fitzwilliam’s tenants. Elected to Brooks’s on 2 July 1807, he voted regularly with the Whigs during the sessions of 1807 and 1808; thereafter, although he was classed ‘present Opposition’ by the Whigs in 1810, military service in the Peninsula restricted his activity to a vote against the convention of Cintra, 21 Feb. 1809, and three votes with opposition on 4 and 24 Feb. and 3 Mar. 1812. Not knowing when he would return home, Fitzwilliam replaced him at Malton in 1812. There is no record of his having spoken in his first Parliament. Dundas died 23 Nov. 1844.1Wentworth Woodhouse mun.
