biography text
John Paty stood as a mainpernor for John Newburgh II* and John Filoll*, the shire knights for Dorset elected in the county court held at Dorchester on 8 Jan. 1442. At the same time his name was written on the schedule listing the parliamentary burgesses, as one of those elected for Dorchester itself.1 C219/15/1. However, there is no trace of a man of this name in the surviving records of the town, and the MP remains effectively unidentified.
