biography text
Tailor’s name was derived from his occupation. It was as a ‘tailor’ of Ludgershall that he was sued in the court of common pleas in Hilary term 1420 by Richard Turnaunt* of Winchester, who claimed that he owed him £27 16s. 8d.1 CP40/636, rot. 206d. Turnaunt’s main business in his home city concentrated on the production and finishing of cloth, so it may be that Tailor had failed to pay for a consignment of fabric sent from Winchester for him to use. Save for his return to the Parliament of 1427 no other record of Tailor has been found.
