More can be added to the earlier biography.1 The Commons 1386-1421, ii. 5. In a presentment made before the barons of the Exchequer in June 1420 it was alleged that Richard Hert*, Simon Stubbere* and Richard Beye*, all three ‘shipmen’ of Portsmouth, had failed to pay customs due on victuals they had freighted to Normandy that spring, and that Abraham had aided them in their unlawful activities. All four came to the Exchequer in person on 8 July to protest their innocence, asserting that as the cargoes had been destined for the royal garrisons no subsidies were payable. As required, they made regular appearances in court in successive terms until the end of Henry V’s reign.2 E159/196, recorda Trin. rot. 13. Perhaps the requirement to do so was a factor in the willingness of Abraham and Stubbere to travel to Westminster for the Parliament of May 1421. In the Easter term of 1425, however, while Hert, Stubbere and Beye were all summoned to make answer as before, Abraham was not. This may indicate that he was now dead.3 E159/201, recorda Easter rot. 9d. He is not recorded after February that year.4 Winchester Coll. mun. 15239.
