To the earlier biography,1 The Commons 1386-1421, ii. 220. The Battle Abbey mss referred to there are now catalogued as Huntington Lib. San Marino, California, Battle Abbey mss, deeds 1417, 1494. it should be added that Beuley was living in Winchelsea by November 1415.2 Battle Abbey deed, 1322. It is certain that he died before May 1433, but he may have been dead as early as October 1430, when an Agnes Beuley claimed exemption from taxation on moveable goods at Icklesham, near Winchelsea, presumably as the widow of a Portsman.3 E179/225/50.
