biography text

There is a little to add to the earlier biography.1 The Commons 1386-1421, ii. 304. Boteler was named as a juror at Horsham on 6 Dec. 1422, at an inquest regarding the lands formerly belonging to John Lewknor. This was while his fourth Parliament was in session (the dissolution was not to take place until 12 days later), so it looks as if he was absent from the Commons.2 C139/8/89. Boteler occasionally brought suits in the court of common pleas against his debtors, who included a London butcher as well as men from his home town.3 CP40/661, rot. 354d.
