A little more may be added to the earlier biography.1 The Commons 1386-1421, ii. 324. In 1433, as one of the keepers of the passage between Dover and Calais, Braban was rewarded for organizing the transport of the duke of Gloucester and other lords of the king’s council to France.2 E403/709, m. 7. As a freeman of the Cinque Ports he was able to claim exemption from parliamentary subsidies on property in Bewsborough hundred in 1416 and in Newchurch hundred in 1434.3 E179/124/88, rot. 7; 234/2.
