During Dalby’s first term as bailiff of Gloucester a felon named John Badwell escaped from the custody of him and his co-bailiff John Bisley†, an incident for which he and Bisley were subsequently fined by the Crown.2 E159/203, recorda Hil. rots. 13-13d, 14-14d.
