In the autumn of 1429 Eaton was one of the lawyers who represented the corporation of Norwich in negotiations with the city’s cathedral priory. These concerned the long-running jurisdictional dispute between the citizens and the priory and led to a short-lived treaty made between the mayor of Norwich and the prior at the end of the same year. It is possible that Eaton was residing on one of his properties outside Norwich at this date, since it was necessary for him to travel to the city to take part in the negotiations.3 Norf.
