Galon was certainly a lawyer, the profession previously posited for him, although he was not necessarily the ‘Galion’ admitted to Lincoln’s Inn some time before 1420,2 L. Inn Adm. i. 2. since a Symond Galion features in the inn’s records of the 1420s and 1430s.3 Lincoln’s Inn, London, Black Bk. 1, ff. 16v, 27v. Wherever he received his legal training, he was active as an attorney in the court of common pleas at Westminster during the 1420s, representing clients in cases originating in Essex.4 CP40/653, rot. 346; 654, rot. 352; 664, rot. 317d.
