biography text

A little may be added to the earlier biography.1 The Commons 1386-1421, iii. 230.

The names of Bridgnorth’s MPs are generally known only from the endorsement of the writ ordering the sheriff of Shropshire to make elections. In the case of the dorse of the 1427 writ, the names of Green and his fellow Bridgnorth member, Richard Horde*, have been added in a blank left when the names of the county and Shrewsbury MPs were written upon it. Presumably the bailiffs of Bridgnorth had been slow to certify the result of the borough election to the sheriff, and there is no reason to suspect any electoral irregularity.2 C219/13/5.
