biography text

There is little to be added to the earlier biography.1 The Commons 1386-1421, iii. 577.

Thomas Lee, like his more important putative kinsman, William Lee*, was a lawyer. On the morrow of Michaelmas 1427, shortly before he took his seat in Parliament, he appeared in the Exchequer as attorney for both the sheriff of Staffordshire, Sir Roger Aston*, and the men of Stafford.2 E159/204, adventus Mich. rot. 1. It is likely that an early death explains why his career did not develop further and that he was a young man when elected for Newcastle-under-Lyme.
