Despite his prominence in his native city of Bath, it appears that Widcombe was by occupation a smith.2 Bath and N.-E. Som. Archs., Bath Ancient Deeds, BC151/2/69. He last appears as a party or witness to local deeds in the spring of 1429, when he granted his property in Broad Street (adjoining that of the ‘porker’ John Northfolk) to the wealthy weaver Walter Rich*, whom he had accompanied to Parliament four years earlier. He may have died not long after his ninth and final return to the Commons.3 Bath Ancient Deeds, BC151/5/15.
