Although Yerde was described in a pardon of June 1415 as resident in Surrey,3 C67/37, m. 37. the location of his home in that county has not been discovered. This is surprising, for his terms as sheriff and escheator, followed by at least four elections as a knight of the shire, would suggest that he was well-known there and a landowner of substance. Nor has it been discovered when Yerde died. He held the post of harbinger of the royal household by grant of Henry IV and for term of his life, but there is no trace in the records either of his confirmation in office when Henry VI came to the throne in 1422 or of the appointment of a replacement on his death.
