LUDLOW, Henry (c.1577-1639), of Hill Deverill, Wilts.; later of Tadley, Hants.

Through their mother, Ludlow and his sister Elizabeth had a claim to the Coker property in Dorset. In 1600 Ludlow brought a Star Chamber case against one William Penny, whom he accused, first of breaking into a house at Dorchester formerly belonging to the Cokers and stealing effects left to Elizabeth by her grandmother, then, ‘to cover and hide his lewd practices’, of marrying Elizabeth ‘contrary to her father’s good will’. Ludlow obtained his return for Andover in 1601 through the influence of his father-in-law. He was appointed to a committee on 3 Dec. concerning the sale of lands by the 3rd Lord Mordaunt (Lewis Mordaunt). He died on 13 Oct. 1639.1Vis. Dorset Add. ed. Colby and Rylands, 18; Wilts. Arch.
