Hippisley was a lawyer and substantial Somerset landowner. He and his wife jointly purchased Cameley, and he inherited from his family the manor of Ston Easton and other lands at Bruton, purchased from the Crown in 1544. He was returned to the 1563 Parliament by both Wootton Bassett (presumably through a connexion with the Thynne family) and Wells, opting for the latter. After the conclusion of the session, in September 1563 he was granted an annuity for giving counsel to the city. He died 12 Aug. 1570.
