MYNN, Nicholas, of Little Walsingham, Norf.

The Mynns, whose tangled pedigree contains several Nicholases, appear mainly in Norfolk and Suffolk. Mynn himself, however, was from the Surrey branch of the family, and he later (certainly by 1560) moved to Little Walsingham. He was in the service of the Duke of Norfolk by 1558, when he was in Rome negotiating the dispensation for Norfolk’s second marriage. All the boroughs for which Mynn sat belonged to the Duke. By the time of the 1572 elections Norfolk was in disgrace, but Mynn’s connexion with him, and perhaps his own residence nearby was still enough to secure his election.
