RANDALL, Nicholas (d.c.1562), of Truro, Cornw.

Randall, a duchy of Cornwall official, was one of the west-country contingent, led by (Sir) Anthony Kingston, who opposed a government measure in the Parliament of 1555, and it is not surprising to find him re-elected in 1559, when sound protestants were much sought after. Little is known about his background. A William Randall, four times mayor of Plymouth, was of an age to have been his father, but there is no evidence to connect them. Possibly his wife was the Alice Randall, widow, who was living in Truro after 1562. His descendants apparently remained in the town; the son of a Hannibal Randall of Truro went up to Oxford in 1641.
