biography text
Acton was returned for his local borough while still a minor. The only reference to him in the surviving records of the House is on 13 Jan. 1598, when he was given leave of absence. As well as Elmley Lovett, the family owned the manors of Cotheridge, four miles west of Worcester, and Crutch, two miles north of Droitwich, as well as the advowson of All Saints, Worcester, and houses and salt-pans in Droitwich itself. Becoming a Catholic, on 10 June 1607 Acton settled his property to provide an annuity of £20 for his wife. He died 22 Aug. 1621.1C142/257/49; Vis. Worcs. (Harl.
