Corbet was a lawyer, admitted in 1569 to chambers at the Middle Temple that belonged to his kinsman Edward Lord Windsor. Two years later it was agreed that Corbet would move from the chambers when Lord Windsor or his son required them. He may have abandoned them after his appointment to the council in the marches and his marriage to an heiress who inherited an estate at Beslow on the death of her father in 1578.2M. T. It is not clear whether Corbet owed his seat for Bridgnorth to family connexions or to his membership of the council in the marches. He was described in a letter to Walsingham in 1575 as being ‘so slow of despatch as not meet for’ the court of the marches, but he was assiduous in his attendance and was asked by the Privy Council over a number of years to arbitrate in various matters concerning the court.3APC, passim.

He died in 1598 and was buried with his ancestors at Moreton Corbet on 30 July. His widow died six years later.4PCC 15 Hayes; Trans. Salop Arch. Soc. (ser. 4), v.; A. E. C[orbet], Fam. of Corbet, ii. 272-4.
