It is not clear how Darrell came in to Parliament for Bishop’s Castle. Perhaps it was through the influence of his marriage relation, Edward Leighton.
In his will, made 4 May 1617, Darrell referred to a settlement that he had already made on his wife, confirmed his earlier gift of a communion cup to the parish church, left various minor bequests to his younger children and grandchildren and appointed his wife and two of his sons as executors and his brother Walter, and son-in-law Henry St. George, as supervisors.
