KENRICK, Henry (d.c.1579).

This Member has not been identified, but it is likely that he was one of the Kenricks of Acton Burnell and Woore, Shropshire. Members of this family have been traced in London early in James I’s reign, and at Godstone in Bletchingley, where they held land, soon afterwards. By the mid-eighteenth century they owned the manor of Bletchingley and represented the borough in Parliament on a number of occasions. Kenrick may have been one of the earliest of his family to settle in Surrey. Perhaps he was a dependant of the Howard family, who owned the manor and advowson. Certainly his name was inserted on the return in a hand different from that of the rest of the document, suggesting the intervention of a patron.
