KINWELMERSH, (KYNELMARSH), Edmund (Edward), ?of Duston, Northants.

This Member was probably the Edmund Kinwelmersh who in 1550 leased land in Duston, adjoining Northampton, formerly monastic property. If he was the man of this name living early in the 1550s in the parish of Allhallows, Bread Street, London, he married on 3 May 1556, one Joan Grave, had at least two daughters, and was related to Francis Kinwelmersh, the poet. The family, which had branches in Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Essex, has not been found in the heralds’ visitations.1CPR, 1566-9, p. 274; Allhallows Reg. (Harl. Apart from his parliamentary election in 1559, the only Elizabethan reference found to Kinwelmersh, dated September 1560, is on a list of those to supervise the collection of fifteenths and tenths in Northampton district. An Edmund Kinwelmersh, ‘late of Bocking, Essex’, died intestate shortly before September 1574, when letters of administration were granted to his brother Robert.2PCC admon. act bk. 1574, f. 58.
