biography text
Southcote was endowed in his father’s lifetime with land at Shillingford. His return for Plympton he no doubt owed to his father’s interest in tin mining and his connexion with the Strodes. Though he is not named in the journals of the 1593 Parliament he might have sat on two committees concerned with kerseys, as Mar. and 2 Apr. Southcote died in December 1594, leaving his brother George his heir. An inquisition post mortem was taken Dec. 1600.1Vivian, Vis.
