biography text

If the identification is correct, Strange was a sheep farmer elected through the influence of his father the bailiff. He was named to committees concerning lands without covin (18 Feb. 1576), and the sale of wool and yarn (13 Feb. 1581). He died in 1594. In his will, made 16 Mar. and proved 10 May of that year, he left his lands to his brother and executor, Anthony. Bequests of sheep were made to a number of servants. He provided a legacy of £40 for his wife on condition that she gave up her obstinate refusal to attend divine service.1PCC 43 Dixy; Valor Ecclesiasticus, ii. 469; Bristol and Glos. Arch. Soc.
