biography text

Trevanion belonged to a younger branch of the family which settled at Talvern during Elizabeth’s reign. He was originally intended for a legal career, and had chambers at the Middle Temple from 1581 until about 1587. He was therefore probably resident in London at the time of the 1586 Parliament to which he had been returned at Tregony through his family’s local influence. He is not mentioned in the records of his one Parliament, nor was he active in local administration. After the death of his father he settled on his mother’s share of the Chamond lands in Launcells and St. Goran. He died 5 June 1628. The heir was his son Nathaniel, aged 27.1Vis. Cornw. (Harl.
