Most of Hilliard’s parliamentary career falls outside the Elizabethan period, and nothing of interest has been ascertained about him before illness compelled him to leave Elizabeth’s last Parliament (28 Nov. 1601). It is possible that he may have attended the two committees to which the burgesses for Hedon were appointed in 1593: cloth (23 Mar) and weirs (28 Mar.). He died in 1634, being buried at Winestead 23 Nov.1Dugdale’s Vis. Yorks. ed. Clay, iii. 333; Foster, Yorks. Peds. ii.; Lansd. 94, f. 139; Reid, Council of the North, 497; D’Ewes, 507, 512, 658.
