biography text
Though the Cumberland branch of the family had lived near Carlisle for many generations, little has been ascertained about Blennerhassett himself. One of his name was among ‘the justices and most of the gentlemen’ of the west march who petitioned the Privy Council in 1600.1Carlisle Recs. (Cumb. and Westmld. Antiq. and Arch.
