biography text

Borlase was educated at his father’s alma mater, Magdalen College, Oxford, before attending the Middle Temple. He pursued a legal career and was called to the bar in 1619. Family influence ensured his election to the 1621 Parliament for Aylesbury. In 1624 he obtained a seat at the newly enfranchised borough of Great Marlow, only a few miles from his family home. He left no mark on the records of either Parliament. Having made his will on 22 Sept. 1624, he died a few months later and was buried in Little Marlow church.6 The Gen. n.s. ii. 233. His father founded a school at Great Marlow in his honour.7 VCH Bucks. ii. 214-15; iii. 66.
