biography text
It was probably Dodington’s grandfather Sir John Herbert* who procured him his post in Queen Anne’s Household, but after her death he received no further office. Returned for Downton, three miles from Breamore, on his father’s interest in 1624, he left no trace on the parliamentary records, and died intestate before the year was out.
