Lloyd’s ancestors had resided on their small Carmarthenshire estate since early Tudor times. He became a lawyer, acquired by marriage a property 12 miles from Haverfordwest, and held county office under the Protectorate. At the general election of 1661 he was returned for the borough on the interest on the Presbyterian corporation. During his two years in the Cavalier Parliament he was not active. He was appointed to only six committees, including those to prevent the export of leather and to suppress profanity and licentiousness. On 8 May 1663 he successfully claimed privilege over an action of ejectment, but his election was declared void a fortnight later. His restoration to the borough bench in 1666 suggests that he had undertaken not to stand against the court candidate at the by-election caused by the promotion of Sir William Morton. He died on 20 Apr. 1675 and was buried in Lincoln’s Inn Chapel, the only member of the family to enter Parliament.2S. R. Meyricke, Vis.
