ASHE, William II (c.1675-bef.Jan 1732), of Ormond Street, London, and Heytesbury, Wilts.

Returned on the family interest for Heytesbury, in a seat previously held by his father, Ashe was a reliable Whig. He was listed as having voted in 1709 for the naturalization of the Palatines, and the following year for the impeachment of Dr Sacheverell. In the next Parliament he voted on 7 Dec. 1711 for the ‘No Peace without Spain’ motion and on 18 June 1713 against the French commerce bill, again being classed as a Whig. He was also marked as a Whig in a list of the Members re-elected in 1715. Otherwise his parliamentary career is impossible to distinguish from that of his brother, Edward, though in all probability the latter was the more active. In his later years Ashe settled in London, where he was a merchant. He died without leaving a will, sometime before January 1732.
