Descended from London merchants, who had settled in Lincolnshire at the end of the 16th century, Hickman had sat in five Parliaments before being returned for his county. A Tory and a member of the October Club, he was absent from the division on the septennial bill but voted against the repeal of the Occasional Conformity and Schism Acts and the peerage bill in 1719. He died 28 Oct. 1720.
