Warre, whose family had been seated at Hestercombe since 1375, was one of the largest landowners in Somerset.1Collinson, Som. iii. 259-63; Rev. F. Brown, Som. Wills, iv. 131 n.2. After representing Somerset boroughs as a Tory in ten Parliaments he was re-elected for Taunton in 1715 but unseated on petition. In September 1715 he gave Sir William Wyndham a letter from Lord Lansdowne about arrangements for the rebellion projected in the west country, which was found by the officer sent to arrest Wyndham. Arrested but released a few months later,2HMC Stuart, ii. 204. he died at Ghent 1 Dec. 1718.
