biography text
Barrow purchased Highgrove, a mile from Gloucester, early in the eighteenth century.1Rudder, Glos. 550-1. After contesting Gloucester unsuccessfully in 1747, he was chosen by the local Tories as their candidate at a by-election in 1751.2Add. 32725, ff. 386, 400. Returned unopposed, he continued to represent the city till his death, 10 Jan. 1789.
