At the 1715 election Willoughby Bertie was brought in by his uncle as a Tory for Westbury. Awarded the seat on a double return, he was unseated on petition two months later. He did not stand again. During the 1745 rebellion he refused to join the Oxfordshire association in defence of the Hanoverian succession.1R. J. Robson, Oxfordshire Election of 1754, p. 2.
He died 10 June 1760.
