Lord Shannon, the head of an influential Irish family, was returned for East Grinstead by his kinsman, the Duke of Dorset, voting for the Government in all recorded divisions, except that on the septennial bill, when he was absent.

He died 20 Dec. 1740 aged 65.1M.I. at Walton-on-Thames.
