Thomas Cater was descended from William Cater, who acquired the manor of Kempston Greys shortly before 1624.1VCH Beds. iii. 300-1. Returned on petition for his county in 1715, he voted for the Administration in all recorded divisions but did not stand again. He died 16 Mar. 1734.
