biography text

Chaworth owed his unopposed return to his father-in-law, William Levinz, one of the leading Nottinghamshire Tories, who had an interest at Retford. On the other hand his father was one of the Whig country gentlemen who were appointed by Newcastle to be deputy lieutenants of the county during the rebellion of 1715.1Add. 33060, f. 21. No votes of his are recorded and he did not stand again. He died in April 1731.
