biography text
Edwin inherited a great fortune from his father, an eminent London merchant, who had acquired extensive properties in Westminster and Glamorgan. He stood for Minehead unsuccessfully, apparently as a Tory, in 1715. Returned for it in 1717, but unseated on petition, he was defeated on a third attempt in 1722. He died 27 Sept. 1722.
