Robert Jones was the grandson of Col. Philip Jones, M.P., a member of Cromwell’s ‘other House’ and comptroller of his household. His aunt, the widow of his father’s elder brother, Sir John Jones of Fonmon, married the notorious Judge Jeffreys.1G. T. Clark, Limbus Patrum Morganiae et Glamorganiae, 215. A Tory under Queen Anne, Jones was again returned for Glamorgan as a Tory in 1715. He died 19 Dec. 1715.
