Legh, a Whig, was returned for Bodmin in 1715 by his brother-in-law, Charles Bodvile Robartes, 2nd Earl of Radnor. He served as colonel of a regiment of Cheshire militia during the rebellion1J. Croston, Nooks and Corners of Lancs. and Cheshire, 341-2; Ormerod, Cheshire, iii. 660. and voted with the Government. In 1722 he stood down in favour of his son, Charles Legh, who was defeated. He died in 1739 (buried 12 Dec.).
