John London, a Dissenter,2CJ, xvi. 559. was descended from Roger London, who bought the manor of Overhall, in Colne Engaine, in 1551. As a factor of Blackwell Hall,3Luttrell, vi. 696, the centre of the London cloth trade, he held valuable army clothing contracts under Anne and George I.4Cal. Treas. Bks. xx. 265; xxvi passim; Cal. Treas. Pprs. 1714-19, p. 252. Returned unopposed as a Whig for Wilton in 1715, he voted with the Administration in all recorded divisions. He did not stand again, dying 25 Nov. 1734.
