Edward Poore’s father was the eldest brother of Abraham Poore of Enford and Combe, Wilts., grandfather of Sir John Methuen Poore, 1st Bt. A local lawyer, he was returned as a government supporter for Salisbury in 1747. On 27 Oct. 1750 Lord Feversham (Anthony Duncombe) forwarded to Pelham an application from Poore for post office patronage in Salisbury, observing that Poore could not ‘support himself without your favour properly bestowed in particular cases’.1Newcastle (Clumber) mss. He died 19 May 1780.
